Collective Energy can on your behalf, liaise with your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to determine any grid connection costs likely to be encountered due to the installation of a new GP1 commercial solar car park system.
It should be noted that most small commercial installations will not be subject to grid reinforcement charges. As the majority of the supply will be consumed by the business and any surplus should be small enough that it does not affect the local grid.
Having said this, it is worth enquiring with your local DNO at an early stage. As failure to obtain DNO support may prove more costly in the long term.
If you require a relatively small commercial system, it is likely that you will not encounter any costs as the increased supply to the local grid will be negligible.
However exceptionally large systems may require grid reinforcement which can only be undertaken by your local DNO. We can liaise free of charge on your behalf with your local DNO to determine any reinforcement work that might be necessary. As well as the likely cost for reinforcement work that may need to be completed for your installation.
As with Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure. Large GP1 installations can potentially mitigate reinforcement charges by combining solar electricity production with onsite battery storage. Effectively bypassing the grid altogether. Or at least minimising the increase in supply leading to a reduction in the likelihood for reinforcement work being necessary.
A G59/3 application should be requested at the earliest opportunity. As if the DNO determines that reinforcement work is necessary. It can take up to 90 days to secure this approval and several months for the work to be carried out. Collective Energy can be dealing with this process on your behalf while you concentrate on running your business.
